Where are you in your artistic journey at the moment? What are you excited about now that you are accepted into the Academy? What do you hope to learn during your time at Soulpepper?
"Right now I’m in the phase of trying everything I want and can do! After finishing my classical voice degree, it felt right to not limit myself to the genre but to see what else I could do that fulfills me. It meant saying yes to projects, performances, and shows that may be out of my comfort zone, but learning about myself and refining my goals with each one. I can’t say I know what I am doing yet but I have been exploring different genres of singing and performing, and finding my voice in each thing. It has been amazing and I can’t wait to continue exploring through this program! Now that I have been accepted I’m just super excited to create something new with some amazingly talented people. I have never performed anything original that I had a hand in creating before so that is a new opportunity I am excited for. I am also looking forward to developing as an artist. I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to use the resources to learn and strengthen parts of my artistry I may have otherwise not been able to. I hope to hone in on acting, work on my body awareness onstage, and work on my voice in speech and singing like I haven’t before. Overall my confidence and assertiveness in my art! I hope to come out of the academy a better and more well rounded artist than when I came!"
