Julia Aplin
Julia Aplin has created dances with theatres, rivers, boxing rings, wading pools, cyberspace, neuroscience labs and forests. Julia works with a wide range of people from elite performers to beginners and has created work with organizations such as Canadian Opera Company, Urbanvessel, Moonhorse Dance Theatre, Dancemakers, Wild Soma, Soulpepper, Double Pendulum and The Grove Collective. Julia has been studying and practicing movement for over 40 years. She has an intense curiosity about the human body in motion and draws on a variety of tools and techniques. She danced full time for 15 seasons with Dancemakers, originating roles in the works of Serge Bennathan and performing around the world. She is an award winning choreographer and has taught movement through University courses, professional academies, private studios and public schools. She continues to explore movement through her artistic collaborations, teaching and healing work.
