Naghmeh Farahmand


Naghmeh Faramand studied with her father and master percussionist Mahmoud Farahmand in Iran where she appeared on Iranian TV with major national ensembles. During this formative period she made numerous appearances at festivals in Europe, Asia and North America. In 2010 she settled in Canada where she released her first CD “Unbound”, followed by CDs “A Tale of Two Cities” and “Refuge”. Active on the Toronto scene she has appeared with the Tafelmusik Orchestra, the Toronto Consort, the Amici Ensemble, and David Buchbinder’sproduction of “The Roots of Andalucia”. Her international performances include appearances at the United Nations Assembly Hall, Walt Disney Centre Los Angeles, Metropolitan Museum New York, Queen Elizabeth Hall London, and Yale University among others. Naghmeh is committed to sharing her passion for traditional Persian percussion with her 2016 release of her instructional DVD on Persian rhythms entitled “The Iranian Daf” in international drumming language. She is passionate about teaching and enjoys an enviable reputation for her international performance workshops. Naghmeh Faramand enjoys an active international calendar and makes her home in Toronto.
