Shoes accompany us on all our journeys. They say who we are, where we came from and where we are going.
Ten women originally coming from China, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Peru, Brazil, Tunisia and Poland will share their stories of immigration and adaptation to Canada – through the focus of a pair of shoes.
This performance is a culmination of a workshop where the women were instructed in writing by writing mentor Sheniz Janmohamed and performance coached by Leah Cherniak and Joanne O'Sullivan.
Writing and performing their memoirs allows immigrant and refugee women to be heard in the Canadian mainstream media. These powerful stories are bridges carrying us all to a deeper understanding of what it means to be a Canadian.
