The Monolith: Participatory Installation
The Monolith is a participatory installation designed by Sadiq Awosanmi and Mathias Dowers. The modular sculpture was created as an instrument for confronting our modern crisis of meaning. Participants step inside the Monolith where they are invited to speak a one minute reflection which become part of a growing communal archive.
Soulpepper Theatre, along with co-producers Obsidian Theatre and Nightwood Theatre, and community partner Black Artist’s Networks in Dialogue are excited to offer audiences a chance to step inside The Monolith and add their voices to a shared record. Moving from a passive audience to an active participant, the iconic installation – previously exhibited in DesignTO – invites visitors to speak a one minute reflection which is recorded, transcribed and included in a live digital archive, growing continuously throughout the run of How to Catch Creation.
On in the Soulpepper Atrium from April 23 - May 17. Come check it out!
