Movie Night: The Witch
In 1630’s New England, a Puritan family relocates to a remote plot of land on the edge of a forest. Suspicion and paranoia mount when their newborn son mysteriously vanishes, and their crops fail and family members begin accusing their teenage daughter of witchcraft. The Witch is a portrait of a family unraveling in the wilderness from fear, anxiety and isolation.
The Witch is presented in partnership with Sleepless Cinema and in conjunction with Soulpepper’s upcoming production Witch.
A short film will precede the feature film, followed by a discussion exploring female agency and themes of control and shame as a social weapon. More details & free tickets coming soon!
