Queer Youth Cabaret

Soulpepper’s annual Queer Youth Cabaret is back! On June 19 and 20, eight selected artists will perform short original cabaret pieces for live audiences. Participants will receive rehearsal space, one-on-one dramaturgy, opportunities for ensemble creation, and perform their final showcase in the Garland Cabaret. In addition, each act will receive a $500 honorarium for their participation.

Introductory Video:  Film a 2-minute video telling us a bit about yourself. How do you identify as an artist and as a person? What artists do you look up to (of any medium)? What is your experience with creating work? What do you hope to gain from participating in the 202Queer Youth Cabaret?

Written proposal for 5-8 minute performance: In 250 words, describe the performance you are envisioningThe piece can be a variety of things, such as narrative-based, movement work, music/song, comedy, drag, burlesque, etc. Please be as detailed as possible. Though we understand things can change as you continue to rehearse the performance, please make sure to keep to the same piece.
